In commemoration of International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week 2025, a rally and human chain were held in Kurigram District to raise public awareness about the severe risks associated with lead contamination.
The human chain was held infront at morning on October 25, 2025, at Shapla Chattar in Kurigram. The event, which sought to address the pressing issue of lead exposure, was collaboratively organized by YouthNet Global and Pure Earth Bangladesh, with valuable support from UNICEF Bangladesh. This initiative aimed to engage the community in recognizing the critical need for action to prevent lead poisoning, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children.
In the event, Students, along with members of Step Up 4 Tomorrow, Juvence Right’s Net, YouthNet Global, and representatives from various civil society organizations, actively participated which attracted significant attention from the local community.
Mentioning the recent statistics, the organizers says that- approximately 36 million children in Bangladesh are affected by lead poisoning, a hidden yet perilous threat that jeopardizes their health and future prospects. They also mention that there is no safe level of lead exposure. It is imperative that we act now to safeguard the health and future of our children. At last, the organizers underscored the urgent need for immediate action to protect children from lead exposure, calling on both local authorities and the general public to implement preventive measures and increase awareness.

In the Human chain Muzahid islam joy , Sabiha kabir, Afsana Anny, Mehedi Hasan Mahin, Mayeda kuasha, Minhajul islam, Mariya Islam Mim, Joti kormokar and children’s rights activists from different organisations were present.
