Voice of Insaf Desk:

The Bangladesh Press Club UK has officially inaugurated its new office in London . A number of prominent members of the Bangladeshi community and British-Bangladeshi media professionals were there to commemorate the occasion.
Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury, the former adviser to the president of Bangladesh and chief patron of the club, cut the ribbon during a ceremony on Sunday evening (9 November) to officially open the clubhouse.

A wide range of important people from Britain’s diverse community landscape were at the event. These included local councils, previous mayors and speakers, political leaders, writers, and cultural luminaries.

Several well-known British politicians told the press that Bangladeshi journalists in the UK should respect professional integrity, impartiality, and ethical standards in their reporting. These are characteristics that strengthen the media’s function as a bridge between communities.

The new office sits in the middle of London’s historic Aldgate district, which is known as the cultural center of the British-Bangladeshi diaspora. It is meant to be a place for many different things. It will be the club’s administrative center and will also organize news conferences, seminars, intellectual talks, and community forums about the problems and opportunities that the diaspora faces.

Among the important people who came were Moin Qaderi, the former Mayor of Barking and Dagenham and leader of the Green Party; Ahbab Hossain and Khalis Uddin Ahmed, the former Speakers of Tower Hamlets Council and senior Labour Party figures; and Shah Mustafizur Rahman Belal, Suez Mia, Dollar Biswas, Shafiqul Islam Riblue, Hasnat Chowdhury, Murad Chowdhury, and Tumma Torofdar.

Shakir Hossain, the President of the Bangladesh Press Club UK, and Touhidul Karim Mujahid, the General Secretary, welcomed the visitors and thanked them for their continuous support and encouragement in building a stronger, more united media community in the UK.

In the event the executive committee members including Senior Joint Secretary Mahbuba Zebin, Treasurer Jahangir Hossain, Office Secretary Yasmin Jahanara, Law Affairs Secretary Md. Mahbubul Alam Toha, IT Secretary Rajib Hasan, Sports and Cultural Secretary Faruk Hossain, and Community Engagement Secretary Anwar Hossain Sabuj Chowdhury were present.

Moreover, Shayek M. Rahman, Shahidur Rahman, Rakesh Rahman, Maruf Gias Bappy, Faria Akter Sumi, Lovely Begum, Sushmita Zebin, Aminul Hasan, and Sheikh Majharul Islam Sohan were also there as active members of press club.

It is worth mentioning that the new office is a big step forward for the club’s goal of making the professional network of Bangladeshi journalists in the UK stronger and giving them a place to work together on responsible journalism, creativity, and conversation.
