A protest demonstration held in London to speak out against the attempted murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, a well-known July revolutionary, the head of Inqilab Manch, and an independent candidate for parliament from Dhaka-8.
Equal Rights International (ERI), an international human rights group, organised the protest at the historic Altab Ali Park in East London on Saturday, December 13, right after the Zuhr prayers. Inqilab Manch UK stood with ERI and participated part in the protest.
Mahbub Ali Khan Shur, the President of ERI, led the rally, while Rokta Hasan, the Vice President of the group, led the event. The speakers included ERI Secretary General Naoshin Mustari Mia, Assistant Secretary Syed Abdul Aziz Milad, ERI members Abdul Qader and Farid Uddin, Jamaat leader Abdul Munim, Inqilab Manch UK Convener Riyaz Mujahid, Member Secretary Belal Hossain, Joint Member Secretary Nakib Chowdhury, Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Vice President of Fight for Rights International, and Rubel Ahmed, Assistant Organising Secretary of Stand for Human Rights.
During the rally, people shouted things like “We are all Hadi, we will speak freely,” “We are Hadi,” and “Delhi or Dhaka?” “Dhaka—Dhaka.” The revolutionary slogans could be heard all throughout Altab Ali Park and the nearby Bangladeshi neighborhood’s.
Mahbub Ali Khan Shur, the president of ERI, said to the crowd, “The July generation has learnt how to get justice for the blood of the martyrs of the July movement.” The people who did this attack must be punished right away, or else the results would be very bad.
Riyaz Mujahid, head of Inqilab Manch UK, said, “The people who shot at revolutionary Sharif Osman Hadi on July 1 must be brought to justice.” The government will be to blame for what happens next if the terrorists are not caught right away. The speakers all called for quick justice and responsibility, asking the government to protect political activists and respect democratic rights.
