A seminar on public health and nutrition was organized at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Santosh, Tangail, through a collaborative initiative of the Nutritionist Foundation and the Department of Food Technology and Nutritional Science (FTNS). The seminar took held on Monday, 15 December 2025, at 10 am in the university’s Third Academic Building.
Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Azim Akhand, the Vice-Chancellor of MBSTU, was the main guest at the occasion. The Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Dr Md Abu Zubayer, was present as a special guest. The session was chaired by Professor Dr Md Azizul Haque, Chairman of the FTNS Department.
Rebecca Sultana, General Secretary of the Nutritionist Foundation, provided the keynote lecture at the seminar. Shamim Ara, the Additional Organising Secretary of the Nutritionist Foundation, set up the program. She is also a practicing nutritionist and diet consultant at Medinova Medical Services Limited in Tangail.
The seminar’s discussions were mostly about the problems that public health and nutrition are facing right now, the significance of eating a balanced diet, and how to encourage healthy lifestyles. Faculty members, students and professionals from relevant sectors took part in the event.
The organisers pointed out such projects play a critical role in boosting public awareness of health and nutrition issues and in encouraging educated lifestyle choices across the community.
